Trial Set for Justus Viatical
Principals
Some $3 million in fraudulently obtained policies bought by the officers of
Pompano Beach-based Justus Viatical led to 42 counts of grand theft and 7 counts
of insurance fraud against Scott Stephan, RFP, and Steven Bendfelt. Their
indictment in October 1999 was the first bust in the nation for insurance fraud
due to clean-sheeting. The Broward Cty., Florida trial of Stephan and Bendfelt
is scheduled to begin on July 27, 2001 at 10:00 AM.
