Warning to
Unlicensed Companies
The decision of the 5th
Circuit Court of Appeals in the case of Life Partners Inc. (LPI) and John Maroney
v. LINA does not apply to you.
If you are not licensed
in states that require viatical licenses, you do not have the freedom to
transact business with viators who reside in those states.
Nor does LPI have the
right to violate state viatical laws. The decision of the 5th Circuit Court was not to be
used as precedent. This is clearly stated on the first page of its written decision. The
decision applies only to these limited circumstances.
