ABC and Life Benefit Services

bulletIn January 2000 four executives of Life Benefit Services (Winter Park, Florida) were charged with fraud and dealing in stolen property in connection with the sale of approximately $2.5 million in fraudulently obtained policies ("clean-sheeting").
bulletOne of these executives is Wanda Tappan, president of Life Benefit Services.
bulletWanda Tappan, 56, is the mother of Anna Grinstead.
bulletAnna Grinstead, daughter of Wanda Tappan, is CEO/COO of Accelerated Benefits Corp.
bulletBoth companies are located in Winter Park - Orlando, Florida.
bulletLife Benefit Services registered a domain name in 1996 but did not set up a Web site immediately.
bulletInstead, Life Benefit Services used an email address that went to Accelerated Benefits Corp.'s domain (Life Benefit@Viaticals.com).
bulletABC's web site is "viaticals.com."
bulletThe registered owner of the domain named "Life Benefits.com" is  Accelerated Benefits Corp.
bulletThe address of the domain owner for Life Benefits.com is 1850 Lee Road, Winter Park, Florida. which, logically, is the address of Life Benefits Services.
bulletThe address of the domain owner for ABC's site is 1850 Lee Road, Winter Park, Florida.
bullet1850 Lee Road, Winter Park, Florida was the address for Accelerated Benefits Corp. until the LaMonda Family Trust bought the Juarez building and relocated their offices.
bulletThe largest number of viatical purchases made by ABC in 1999 were through Life Benefit Services, according to ABC's report to the Florida dept. of insurance.
bulletThat same report reveals that ABC paid huge commissions to brokers -- in 7 cases paying between 9% and 10.9%.
bulletViators whose policies were purchased through Life Benefit Services were paid a total of $757,438. For these sales, Life Benefits was paid $103,007: 13.59% of the amount paid to viators.
